A micro mobile home from 20,000£
It is Invisible Studio, an Anglo-Saxon agency based in Bath, has built this mobile micro-dwelling resembling a tipi design using recycled materials and locally produced…
It is the brand of Helvète Guterstrasse which is at the origin of these so unique chairs. Discovered at the furniture exhibition of Milan, the Pi3 were distinguished because of their design and their materials. Their creator, Christoph Steiger says he is not a designer, or an engineer, but rather someone between the above two.
It is more the mechanical aspect rather than the aesthetic aspect that interests him in his designs. In the past, Christoph Steiger distinguished himself as a carpenter and a wood-carver, but he was also a student in design in Scandinavia.
It is a strong choice that Christoph made for these chairs being based on a cylindrical form, whereas we were generally accustomed to squarer forms. Then he carved the aluminum, worked it, polished it, anodized it. Then, he went on with the part where we usually sit on, by using an original material, cork. He worked it to get an optimal comfort. And finally, each one of these chairs has hinges concealed on the underside so that we can hang them in line.
The question is: did he get this idea by recovering a champagne cork and by transforming it into a small chair? In any case, these chairs are available in various colors, they are stackable thanks to their conical form and above all they are very successful!
