In the city of\nMoradabab, 150 kilometers north of New-Delhi, the architects of\nPortal 92 have designed the Village Caf\u00e9. The designers Aanchal\nSawhney, Sagar Goyal and their team were inspired by traditional\nIndian villages for the concept of space. The use of contrasting\nmaterials recalls the diversity of the country amid urbanization. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_01-528x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10665\" width=\"661\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_01-528x480.jpg 528w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_01-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_01-768x699.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_01.jpg 1099w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 661px) 100vw, 661px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Like\nIndian Villages, the Village Caf\u00e9 is composed of a maze of paths,\nseats, plots, and secret spaces. The shape of the planters as well as\nthe walls were molded to recreate an organic ambiance. User-friendly,\nshaded areas are semi-protected from direct view are spread out in\ndifferent areas and favour intimacy. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u030102-611x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10659\" width=\"662\" height=\"520\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u030102-611x480.jpg 611w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u030102-300x236.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u030102-768x604.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u030102.jpg 1272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nplaster coating of terracotta gives the atmosphere a sense of warmth\nand vitality, while concrete rings perforate the walls regularly, to\ngive a subtle glimpse of the view. The interior light fixtures are\nsculpted of carved wood, to contrast with the raw concrete of the\nbuilding. The plants themselves weren\u2019t chosen randomly. The\narchitects selected species that will thrive in the local\nenvironment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_03-338x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10667\" width=\"659\" height=\"936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_03-338x480.jpg 338w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_03-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_03.jpg 704w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncity of Moradabab boasts a booming brass crafting industry, which has\nearned the name <em>pital\nnagri<\/em>,\nin other words \u201ccity of brass\u201d. Brass vases and jars in different\nsizes are integrated into the d\u00e9cor to reference the local commerce.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_04-589x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10661\" width=\"656\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_04-589x480.jpg 589w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/VillageCafe\u0301_04-300x244.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Always,\nin the spirit of authenticity, the floor of the central courtyard is\ncomposed of broken slabs of black Kadappa stones, locally found in\nIndia. This palette of raw and rustic materials reference rural\nIndian homes. The numerous plants as well as the cleverly woven\ncirculations create a space where only regulars can find their way\neasily.
