Hartung commence \u00e0 peindre tr\u00e8s jeune et suit des cours dans des \u00e9coles d\u2019art \u00e0 Leipzig puis \u00e0 Dresde. Les moyens financiers de sa famille lui permettent de voyager en Europe et ainsi de se familiariser avec le cubisme et avec le courant naissant de l\u2019abstraction. En 1935, un interrogatoire de la Gestapo le pousse \u00e0 fuir l\u2019Allemagne et \u00e0 se r\u00e9fugier \u00e0 Paris o\u00f9 il fr\u00e9quente les milieux d\u2019avant garde. En 1939, Hartung s\u2019engage dans la L\u00e9gion \u00e9trang\u00e8re : sa production picturale se r\u00e9duit de fait.<br>Bless\u00e9 en 1944, il est amput\u00e9 de la jambe droite. Cette blessure aura une incidence sur sa mani\u00e8re de peindre. Vivant dans le plus grand d\u00e9nuement et s\u2019habituant aux limites de son corps, il peint alors essentiellement des petits formats, des encres sur papier, qui constituent un v\u00e9ritable r\u00e9pertoire de forme dans lequel il piochera et qui l\u2019inspirera. Depuis ses jeunes ann\u00e9es, par souci d\u2019\u00e9conomie mais aussi par esprit m\u00e9thodique, il privil\u00e9giait la technique du report qui consiste \u00e0 s\u00e9lectionner une \u0153uvre r\u00e9alis\u00e9e dans un petit format, \u00e0 en faire la mise au carreau pour l\u2019agrandir fid\u00e8lement, et ainsi pouvoir la reproduire \u00e0 la peinture \u00e0 l\u2019huile sur une toile de grand format. Il s\u2019affranchit peu \u00e0 peu de cette technique et se confronte directement \u00e0 la toile. L\u2019instrument est alors le prolongement du corps et permet d\u2019amplifier le geste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-9n-720x290.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-9n-720x290.jpg 720w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-9n-300x121.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-9n-768x310.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-9n.jpg 1337w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019exposition se termine avec les ann\u00e9es 1971 \u00e0 1989 et le Geste lib\u00e9r\u00e9 : \u00e0 la fin de sa vie, Hartung, install\u00e9 \u00e0 Antibes dans un atelier qu\u2019il a con\u00e7u, ose tout, les juxtapositions de couleur, l\u2019usage d\u2019outils de plus en plus \u00e9loign\u00e9s de l\u2019univers pictural, et m\u00eame s\u2019il est de plus en plus affaibli, il continue \u00e0 peindre, aid\u00e9 par des assistants qui lui pr\u00e9parent ses toiles et ses couleurs. Les formats deviennent de plus en plus importants, les \u0153uvres m\u00e9ditatives. L\u2019artiste est \u00e0 cette p\u00e9riode tr\u00e8s prolixe, alors qu\u2019il fait face \u00e0 de grandes difficult\u00e9s pour se d\u00e9placer, Hartung peint, depuis son fauteuil et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses ing\u00e9nieux outils, presqu\u2019une toile par jour !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"299\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-11n-720x299.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-11n-720x299.jpg 720w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-11n-300x124.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-11n-768x318.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-11n.jpg 1300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Le parcours est fluide et tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able ; l\u2019exposition r\u00e9ussit plusieurs paris. Elle nous permet de rencontrer l\u2019homme autant que l\u2019artiste, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de nombreux \u00e9l\u00e9ments biographiques et des archives de correspondances ou de titres de presse. Tel un roman, on suit le d\u00e9roul\u00e9 de la vie tr\u00e9pidante de Hans Hartung, ses deux mariages avec l&rsquo;artiste norv\u00e9gienne Anna-Eva Bergman, leurs d\u00e9m\u00e9nagements, la solidarit\u00e9 de ses amis artistes lorsqu\u2019il \u00e9tait en difficult\u00e9 financi\u00e8re, ses premiers succ\u00e8s jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019obtention du Grand Prix de la Biennale de Venise en 1960, et la stabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique et la reconnaissance\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"327\" src=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-13n-720x327.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11205\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-13n-720x327.jpg 720w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-13n-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-13n-768x349.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archibat.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/photo-13n.jpg 1187w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019exposition donne \u00e9galement \u00e0 voir la richesse des innovations techniques et les r\u00e9flexions sous-tendant le processus de travail de Hans Hartung. Avec plus de 300 \u0153uvres et des cartels intelligemment r\u00e9dig\u00e9s, nous nous int\u00e9ressons \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 des supports, de la toile aux galets, de la c\u00e9ramique \u00e0 la photographie, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 la multitude des outils, de l\u2019aspirateur \u00e0 la brosse pour \u00e9triller les chevaux, du r\u00e2teau aux branches de gen\u00eats, \u2026 Hartung explore, exp\u00e9rimente mais surtout s\u2019amuse. Il repousse toujours plus loin les possibilit\u00e9s de la couleur et de la toile.
