La pierre, le sable, le fer et beaucoup d\u2019autres mat\u00e9riaux sont extraits en grande quantit\u00e9 pour approvisionner les march\u00e9s. Les chantiers de construction eux-m\u00eames g\u00e9n\u00e8rent de gros volumes de d\u00e9chets, que ce soit pour la construction, la d\u00e9molition ou la r\u00e9novation. Au Br\u00e9sil, par exemple, les d\u00e9chets de chantiers repr\u00e9sentent entre 50 et 70 % de la masse totale des ordures ramass\u00e9es par les municipalit\u00e9s. Ces d\u00e9chets finissent souvent dans les d\u00e9charges au lieu d\u2019\u00eatre retrait\u00e9s et peuvent d\u00e9truire les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019assainissements en place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourtant, ces d\u00e9chets pourraient avoir un \u00e9norme potentiel de r\u00e9utilisation. Avec un traitement appropri\u00e9, les mat\u00e9riaux recycl\u00e9s peuvent remplacer les extractions et devenir de nouveaux \u00e9l\u00e9ments de construction, tout en conservant une qualit\u00e9 comparable aux mat\u00e9riaux traditionnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le processus de recyclage, qui consiste \u00e0 r\u00e9utiliser des mat\u00e9riaux jet\u00e9s pour les r\u00e9introduire dans le cycle de production, r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement la consommation de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res. L\u2019avantage de l\u2019acier c\u2019est qu\u2019il peut \u00eatre transform\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019infini sans jamais perdre de sa qualit\u00e9. Lorsque l\u2019acier est recycl\u00e9, la consommation d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 diminue de 80%, ce qui r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement l\u2019impact environnemental. Pour le b\u00e9ton durci, on utilise un concasseur sp\u00e9cial qui produit des \u00ab&nbsp;granulats recycl\u00e9s&nbsp;\u00bb. Ce n\u2019est que depuis peu que le b\u00e9ton recycl\u00e9 est utilis\u00e9 pour des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de construction autres que les sous-planchers.<br>Aujourd\u2019hui, on utilise les granulats en b\u00e9ton pour cr\u00e9er des \u00e9l\u00e9ments structurels de 30 \u00e0 40 Mpa, d\u2019autant que ces granulats sont 10 \u00e0 15 % plus l\u00e9gers que le b\u00e9ton vierge. Trait\u00e9s avec soin, les feuillus peuvent durer des centaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Ils sont utilis\u00e9s dans de grandes pi\u00e8ces structurelles, ou comme lattes dans la fabrication de caisses et palettes. Le bois moins cher est transform\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re dans l\u2019industrie des panneaux et la fabrication des feuilles MDF pour la production de boiseries. En effet, le pl\u00e2tre peut \u00e9mettre du sulfure d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne inflammable et fortement toxique, contaminant les sols et les eaux souterraines. \u00c0 l\u2019inverse, s\u2019il est correctement trait\u00e9, le pl\u00e2tre recycl\u00e9 conserve les m\u00eames caract\u00e9ristiques physiques et m\u00e9caniques que le pl\u00e2tre conventionnel, \u00e0 un co\u00fbt beaucoup plus attractif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le polystyr\u00e8ne expans\u00e9 : pratique et facile \u00e0 recycler<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lorsqu\u2019il est broy\u00e9 ou compact\u00e9, le polystyr\u00e8ne expans\u00e9 ou EPS est un mat\u00e9riau recyclable qui devient une mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re pour la fabrication de nouveaux produits en plastique. En raison de sa composition chimique et de sa temp\u00e9rature de fusion, il ne peut pas \u00eatre recycl\u00e9 avec d\u2019autres objets en verre. En revanche, il peut \u00eatre fondu et transform\u00e9 en fibre de verre pour \u00eatre incorpor\u00e9 dans l\u2019asphalte ou les peintures routi\u00e8res r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissantes. Le verre bris\u00e9 peut \u00e9galement se combiner au b\u00e9ton pour cr\u00e9er des sols et des comptoirs en granit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recycler les mat\u00e9riaux pour construire durable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le zinc, l\u2019aluminium, les emballages, les tissus, tous ces mat\u00e9riaux peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre recycl\u00e9s. La construction durable ne peut se d\u00e9velopper de fa\u00e7on p\u00e9renne sans une r\u00e9flexion en profondeur sur la r\u00e9utilisation des mat\u00e9riaux.
