L\u2019\u00e9quipe envisage un environnement b\u00e2ti qui pourrait \u00eatre une solution \u00e0 la crise climatique, plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une partie du probl\u00e8me. Elle propose des \u00ab\u00a0for\u00eats\u00a0\u00bb de \u00ab\u00a0S\u00e9quoia urbains\u00a0\u00bb, v\u00e9ritables \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes naturels qui produiraient des biomat\u00e9riaux pour cr\u00e9er un environnement urbain r\u00e9silient. Les architectes soulignent la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de transformer l\u2019environnement b\u00e2ti en pr\u00e9cisant que le secteur du b\u00e2timent g\u00e9n\u00e8re pr\u00e8s de 40 % de toutes les \u00e9missions mondiales de carbone. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une solution viable pouvant avoir un fort impact sur le climat, tout en cr\u00e9ant une \u00e9conomie circulaire. \u00ab&nbsp;Le temps de la simple neutralit\u00e9 est r\u00e9volu&nbsp;\u00bb souligne Chris Cooper, partenaire de SOM. Une approche progressive pourrait r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de construction de 95 %. Avec de la biomasse et des algues int\u00e9gr\u00e9es, les fa\u00e7ades pourraient transformer le b\u00e2timent en une source de biocarburant qui alimente les syst\u00e8mes de chauffage, les voitures et les avions, ainsi qu\u2019une source de bio-prot\u00e9ine utilisable dans de nombreuses industries.
