Le chauffage est fourni par des panneaux photovolta\u00efques sur le toit, combin\u00e9 \u00e0 une pompe \u00e0 chaleur. The Float utilise des processus et des mat\u00e9riaux renouvelables tels que le li\u00e8ge et le bois pour r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es \u00e0 la construction du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la fin. Pour se diff\u00e9rencier des p\u00e9niches traditionnelles, les architectes ont choisi une structure en zigzag enti\u00e8rement r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en bois lamell\u00e9 crois\u00e9 et en li\u00e8ge. Des mat\u00e9riaux identiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s dans toutes les \u00e9tapes de construction afin de r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9chets, tels que des feuilles d&rsquo;aluminium composites pour le cadre ext\u00e9rieur et la fa\u00e7ade de la cuisine. Malgr\u00e9 son enveloppe ext\u00e9rieure compacte et tr\u00e8s r\u00e9sistante aux intemp\u00e9ries, l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de la maison reste chaleureux et on ne s\u2019y sent pas \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9troit, notamment gr\u00e2ce aux larges baies vitr\u00e9es. La maison est enti\u00e8rement autonome et utilise l\u2019\u00e9nergie solaire pour l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, l\u2019eau du lac et des toilettes s\u00e8ches.
