Cependant, les villes devront s\u2019adapter afin de devenir \u201cbike friendly\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;urbanisme joue un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la promotion de l&rsquo;utilisation du v\u00e9lo. Les villes \u00e9quip\u00e9es de pistes cyclables s\u00e9curis\u00e9es, de stationnements et d&rsquo;installations cyclables publiques encouragent les citoyens \u00e0 opter pour ce moyen de transport beaucoup plus durable. Certaines villes ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 remodeler leur infrastructure urbaine d&rsquo;une mani\u00e8re \u00e0 inclure les v\u00e9los, en construisant des ponts, des pistes cyclables et des parkings permanents. Parmi les nombreuses structures d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es, quatre ponts cyclables ont \u00e9t\u00e9 construits, et plusieurs autres sont en construction. En 2017, la ville d&rsquo;Utrecht a ouvert le plus grand parking \u00e0 v\u00e9los du monde. Les 22 000 places de stationnement seront r\u00e9parties sur cinq terrains r\u00e9serv\u00e9s aux v\u00e9los pr\u00e8s des entr\u00e9es des gares pour permettre les d\u00e9placements multimodaux. La ville a explor\u00e9 la mise en place de 30 pistes cyclables possibles. 12 pistes, compl\u00e8tement s\u00e9par\u00e9es des autres v\u00e9hicules, ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 approuv\u00e9es. Bien que la ville ne soit pas encore enti\u00e8rement cyclable, plusieurs solutions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en place \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle urbaine pour encourager l&rsquo;usage du v\u00e9lo, comme des pistes cyclables temporaires et permanentes le long des routes de la ville. Il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, la ville a mis en place une nouvelle strat\u00e9gie cyclable qui encourage les usagers \u00e0 prendre leur v\u00e9lo plut\u00f4t que leur voiture, en r\u00e9inventant le r\u00e9seau de transport existant.
