The Chinese agency Waterfrom Design was commissioned to design an art space and reception center in Jinan for China Resources Land. Jinan, nicknamed since ancient times the spring city for its mild climate and its many springs, has particularly inspired the work of architects. The design of the place is based on the use of soft curves to symbolize the fluidity of the water, thus offering a space free from all angular shapes. The resulting rhythmic volumes offer visitors the sensation of strolling through a giant sculpture.

A progressive rolling ramp replaces the stairs and rises more than 14 meters high. This gentle slope allows visitors to reach the upper floors. Visitors are encouraged to walk and take regular breaks on the different platforms in a peaceful atmosphere. The spaces allow an easy display of the works, while integrating them into a unique spatial experience.

The organic volumes of this space are like a natural cave polished by water for hundreds of years. The light moves on the curved surfaces and dynamizes the curvature of the shapes. Areas that cannot be touched by daylight are subtly illuminated by light strips or spotlights hidden in the ceilings.
