Should sculptors be worried about the 3D printing boom? This is a reasonable question, as new technologies are rapidly improving and evolving over time. However, some artists resist and keep practising their art for our delight. Alasdair Thomson, a sculptor based in Edinburgh, is one of them.

Basically, his artistic concept is carving a lifelike marble version of iconic fashion objects from the past, like popular Nike Air Max or Chanel N°5 perfume bottle. His artworks are not only faithful to the originals but also aesthetically flawless.

The collection also includes several marble clothes, mostly dresses with surprisingly well-carved folds, proudly hanging on hangers. Each dress has its own name, like Greta, Aisling or Elizabeth. Have a look and judge for yourself!
