Victor Henrich is a photographer from Barcelona. He studied architecture from 1994 to 2002 and taught himself photography from 1999. What makes his shots different is that he uses 3D modelling to change the reality of the cities he sees, applying his initial training and the 10 years that he spent working as a freelance 3D illustrator.

He will exhibit his work from the beginning of February at a gallery in Madrid.

Modifying, transforming, twisting and bending cities

The city is the photographer’s favourite subject. Indeed, for Enrich, urbanism is a process of adding to, destroying and constantly transforming spaces and places, but it is also a hub of interconnectedness between individuals, their dreams and passions, but also their fears…

As an example, Enrich has dedicated a series of images, NHDK, to a building in Munich that he did not especially like from an aesthetic point of view, but that he was particularly attracted to: the Deutscher Kaiser Hotel. He transformed and remodelled the building in 88 different ways, the following being some examples.

A surrealist world

He transports the observer into a surrealist world. It calls to mind the film Inception, except that inspiration is not drawn from his dreams, but from cities where he has spent some time, such as Barcelona, Riga or Tel Aviv, and which inspired his digital manipulations. Enrich’s works are based more on intuition and impulsiveness than on long periods of reflection. According to Enrich, his mind “is a bit like his number one enemy” (interview given in Kombini magazine).

Victor Enrich already has 5 exhibitions planned for 2016 dedicated to numerous European countries such as Spain, Italy, Belgium and Portugal.

We think that the idea of using photography to reinvent cities is great. What do you think?
