Job description
The role:
A seasoned Senior FF&E Designer to take a leadership role on most significant hospitality projects, including luxury hotels, restaurants, and high-end residential developments. In this role, you will be a key driver of the design vision, ensuring it not only meets our exacting standards but also achieves a world-class level of sophistication and functionality. You will be responsible for the end-to-end FF&E process, from initial concept through to final installation, often partnering with a Lead Designer to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of all FF&E design concepts, selections, and specifications for large-scale projects.
- Partner with the Lead Designer and Design Director to translate creative vision into tangible, deliverable project plans.
- Champion the studio’s design ethos and quality standards at every project phase.
- Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
- Prepare and present compelling design concepts to clients, stakeholders, and operators.
Project Management & Execution:
- Oversee the entire FF&E process, including scheduling, budgeting, and procurement strategy.
- Author detailed FF&E specifications, schedules, and documentation packages that adhere to project budgets and program requirements.
- Resolve design and documentation challenges proactively by collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for project correspondence, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
Technical Expertise & Collaboration:
- Conduct thorough reviews of all FF&E drawings and technical packages to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Address tender queries and provide expert responses during client and operator reviews.
- Provide critical support during the post-contract, tender, and construction phases.
- Perform site visits to supervise installation, ensure quality control, and lead the accessorizing process to bring the design to life.
Required profile
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior FF&E Designer within the high-end hospitality or residential sectors.
- A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in all phases of FF&E design and delivery.
- Exceptional knowledge of furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials, and finishes.
- Strong proficiency in relevant design software and documentation practices.
- Outstanding client presentation and communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving the highest quality standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Position to be based in Melbourne, Australia.
