Archibat HR is seeking a Healthcare Architect / Medical Planner for one of our clients in Singapore.

The ideal candidate will possess specialized expertise in healthcare facility planning, design, and project management, with a deep understanding of clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and patient-centered design principles. This role is pivotal in creating innovative, efficient, and healing environments that enhance patient care, staff efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
 
Strategic Planning & Design Development
– Lead the programming, master planning, and conceptual design of diverse healthcare projects (hospitals, outpatient centers, medical office buildings, specialty clinics).
– Develop space plans and layouts that optimize clinical workflows, patient throughput, and operational efficiency.
– Integrate evidence-based design (EBD) principles to enhance patient outcomes, staff well-being, and safety.
– Collaborate with user groups, clinicians, and administrators to translate operational needs into architectural solutions.
 
Technical Leadership & Project Management
– Serve as the primary technical expert on healthcare codes, standards, and regulations (FGI Guidelines, HIPAA, ADA, Life Safety, OSHA, etc.).
– Prepare and oversee the production of schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
– Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including MEP engineers, structural engineers, interior designers, and consultants.
– Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and existing facility assessments.
– Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
 
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
– Act as the main point of contact for client presentations, stakeholder meetings, and user group workshops.
– Facilitate charrettes and collaborative design sessions to align project goals with user needs.
– Present design concepts, reports, and recommendations clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences.
 
Innovation & Best Practices
– Stay current with trends in healthcare delivery, medical technology, sustainable design, and construction methodologies.
– Advocate for innovative solutions in infection control, wayfinding, flexibility, and technology integration.
– Mentor junior staff and contribute to the firm’s healthcare design knowledge base.

Required profile

Qualifications & Experience
Required
– Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution.
– Licensed Architect.
– Minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience, with at least 5-7 years focused specifically on healthcare architecture and medical planning.
– Proven portfolio of completed healthcare projects across various project types and scales.
– Expertise in healthcare codes, regulations, and industry standards (FGI, IBC, NFPA).
– Proficiency in BIM software (Revit is essential), AutoCAD, and relevant design/analysis tools.
– Strong knowledge of building systems, construction detailing, and materials specific to healthcare environments.
– Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
 
Preferred
– Certification such as ACHA (American College of Healthcare Architects) or EDAC (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification).
– LEED AP BD+C or WELL AP credential.
– Experience with lean process design, operational planning, or simulation modeling.
– Knowledge of digital health infrastructure, telehealth, and smart building integration.
