Archibat HR is seeking a Urban Planning Director for an international architecture firm to be based in Singapore.

Position Overview
The Studio Director for Master Planning & Urban Planning will lead a high-performing team of planners, urban designers, and related professionals in the Singapore studio. This role requires a blend of creative vision, technical expertise, and strategic leadership to drive the studio’s growth, project excellence, and client relationships across Southeast Asia and beyond.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering integrated master planning solutions, promoting sustainable urban development, and contributing to the firm’s thought leadership in urbanism.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Management
– Lead, mentor, and grow the master planning/urban planning team in Singapore.
– Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance studio culture.
– Oversee recruitment, professional development, and performance reviews.
– Ensure efficient resource allocation and workflow across projects.
2. Project Direction & Technical Excellence
– Provide strategic design and technical direction on master planning and urban planning projects of varying scales.
– Ensure projects meet the highest standards of quality, creativity, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
– Oversee project timelines, budgets, and risk management.
– Drive the integration of technology, data analytics, and sustainable design principles into planning processes.
3. Business Development & Client Relations
– Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Singapore, Southeast Asia, and other target markets.
– Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, government agencies, developers, and stakeholders.
– Lead proposal development, presentations, and contract negotiations.
– Enhance the firm’s reputation through thought leadership, publications, and participation in industry events.
4. Strategic Growth & Collaboration
– Contribute to the regional and global strategic planning of the Urban Planning discipline.
– Collaborate with other departments (architecture, landscape, environment, transport) to deliver integrated solutions.
– Drive innovation in planning methodologies, tools, and service offerings.

Required profile

Qualifications & Experience
– Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field.
– Minimum 20 years of professional experience in master planning/urban planning, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
– Proven track record in leading large-scale, complex planning projects in Asia or internationally.
– Strong portfolio showcasing innovative and sustainable planning solutions.
– Experience in business development, client management, and team leadership.
– Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
– Professional accreditation (e.g., RTPI, AICP, or equivalent) is preferred.
– Experience working in an international multidisciplinary firm.
– Familiarity with planning policies, regulations, and market dynamics in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
– Proficiency in relevant software and digital tools for urban planning and analysis.
